With the weather FINALLY warming up, I have begun my travels - visiting the various places and taking photos for comparison with those of the past. I have also gathered some new historical images, and the big news - I HAVE MANAGED TO NARROW DOWN THE LOCATION OF "THE COVE"! It was not located out along Cove Road (which is fortunate, since that alleged location is now modern condos), but is out near Sherwood Point on County M. Sometime within the next week or two, I plan to ride out that way and try to locate any buildings that may still exist.
AND NOW FOR SOME BAD NEWS.....
The horse stable - the last surviving historical building at the fairgrounds, from the 1930s/1940s - has already been torn down :(. Concrete foundation work is in progress, and in it's place will likely be built another of those cheap metal sheds that the county seems to be so fond of. So much for being "Historic". :(
